In my day to day life I do try (my best) to give off this mysterious, interesting, nonchalant vibe to everyone around. You know…like one gal does as per usual. But here’s the kicker: I can’t for the life of me fake the enthusiasm I have when it comes to Christmas. Everyone sees right through that. My toxic trait is that I watch holiday movies when I’m bored and listen to Christmas songs whenever the mood strikes me. And if that weren’t enough, I’m always that one person in their friend group who in the beginning of August says „Ok, so what are we doing for the holidays? Let’s plan New Year’s Eve.” And before you ask, the answer is yes, my friends do get annoyed when I ask these questions because they’re just not the type of people to make plans that far ahead.
Some people may say I’m being crazy, but I call it doing God’s work when I started to select the Christmas movies Netflix was going to release so you won’t have to bother and search for them. We all know what a drag it is to scroll and scroll …not knowing what movie to see. This holiday season I’ve got you covered guys. Check out these five movies I recommend you watch this Christmas.
Falling for Christmas
I want you guys to picture this for a second: you’re living your best life, you have everything anyone could wish for, right? You’re planning your future together with your partner and all that good stuff when all of a sudden life just decides to make a 180 degree turn on you. Because like we all know, that’s guaranteed fun and excitement. Of course for the viewer, not the characters.
And what does that mean? Well you no longer have any of the luxuries you’re used to, but not only that, you lose your memory and no one has yet to come forward or file a missing person’s report. You’re left on your own, with no surviving skills whatsoever trying to figure it all out. And all these things just happened to occur around the holidays.
Fun, romance, lessons learned and a few twists and turns in this movie. I 110% recommend it. Watch it and let me know what you think.
Too close to Christmas
When you hear family gathering for Christmas does words like „peace” „fun times” „understanding” come to mind? Chances are you’re laughing through the pain right now and we totally get that. The holidays come with a lot of pressure, chaos and at some point you don’t know what to prioritize anymore.
But let’s make it even more interesting, shall we? What if at this family gathering on Christmas there’s that one person you don’t really like and they’re invited without you knowing? Well I say let the cringe and the awkward moments begin because there’s some tea about to be spilled and we hear it’s really good.
There’s a lot of Christmas magic happening in this movie and I loved every moment of it because it’s just what we need around this time. Don’t you think?
The Noel Diary
Especially around Christmas some people are starting to believe in destiny, fairy tales, in synchronicities and they somehow get this feeling of hope that real magic does exist and no matter what you tell them, you can’t change their mind. It’s me, I’m „some people”. And this movie is proof that I’m right.
A very successful writer is faced with the sad news that his mother has passed away and now he returns to his home town to deal with everything that comes with this situation. Little did he know what the Universe had in store for him. In the midst of taking care of everything, a complete stranger comes to his door looking for her mother. And as it turns out, the both of them have more in common than they initially thought.
I giggled the first time I saw the trailer because I knew it’s going to be an amazing movie. And my intuition was on point (as usual). Check it out and let me know what you think.
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol
I’m not even sure why I’m writing a description for this masterpiece if I’m being completely honest. I’ve seen this movie when I was a kid, I was fascinated by it and I love to re-watch it every year. Mr. Scrooge here has some tough lessons to learn and even if I feel like people don’t really change in real life, here’s a glimpse of what self-awareness, kindness, accountability, true love and spiritual healing will do to someone who’s committed to change.
For this one I’m just going to ask: how many times have you seen this movie already?
The Holiday
We all have a favorite rom-com that we always watch on the holidays and it becomes tradition to re-watch it every year. You just can’t imagine not sitting at home, all cozy and tucked in under a blanket, with a glass of wine or hot chocolate, Christmas decorations all around the room and just enjoying the experience of watching your favorite movie. Even though you know all the lines in the movie and you know what happens, it’s like you watch it for the first time all over again. The Holiday is that movie for me.
If you haven’t seen it, it’s clearly because you’ve lived under a rock until now and you guys, we have to fix that. There’s two very different stories in this movie that involves… you guessed it, romance. On the one hand, Amanda finds out that her partner cheated on her and to deal with that situation she decides it’s time to take a vacation and clear her mind.
At the same time, on the other side of the globe, Iris deals with her own drama regarding men. She’s been in love for years with someone that doesn’t appreciate her and only took advantage of her kindness. They both need a change in their life and the Universe just made it happen. They switched houses for the holidays and believe it or not, that’s when all the pieces just came together.
I can’t stress this enough, watch this movie and let me know what you think.
